Have you ever wanted to start a new sport but wondered if they practice over the summer? Well believe it or not most sports around Cherokee spend a lot of time over the summer practicing to make the team better. These could be early morning or late nights. They also might seem useless to you but most of the time it’s to make the team better or to have picture days or for example to paint banners for cheer.
There are lots of sports around Cherokee that practice over the summer, we’re not gonna go over all of them but we will go over some of the biggest ones here at Cherokee. Football is one of the biggest ones at Cherokee that practice over the summer. Cherokee football practices Monday through Thursday and occasionally Friday’s from 8am to 12pm. So if you’re looking to join the football team just know you will be practicing all summer and it’s not required but expect most people there.

The next sport we’re gonna focus on is baseball and softball. Starting with baseball, they had weight training Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and they are optional but the coach wants as many people there as possible. Next up softball, there practices vary from 2 times a week to sometimes 5 days a week. Same with the times some started at 7am and some started at 9am but varied around 4 hours.

Our next sport were gonna look at is competition cheer, they practiced Tuesday through Thursday from 10am to 12:45pm. They also occasionally had 5 hour practices for choreography and stunting. Now, this next sport is definitely one of the early ones, girls Flag Football, they practice Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 9am.

As you can see there are quite a few sports that practice over the summer and there are a few more but the main ones are football, baseball and softball, cheer, and flag football. It may seem like practicing over the summer takes up your time to rest but in reality it makes the team so much better and gives you more time to improve before a game or competition.
