ENHYPEN: Connecting through music

It’s no secret that I’m a huge music fan. Out of all the genres I enjoy, K-Pop has been my favorite for a while now. ENHYPEN was the reason I got into the genre as a 16-year-old sophomore, and now as I step into adulthood and approach the beginning of a life beyond high school I still love ENHYPEN’s music as much as I did almost two years ago. One of my favorite things to do is introduce people to my favorite artists and music, so here are some of my favorite ENHYPEN songs that could win over even the toughest music critic.

First, a quick introduction to the group. ENHYPEN is a seven-member boy group under HYBE Labels’ company Belift Lab. They were formed in 2020 after competing in the survival show I-Land, where they were judged by producers and coaches while also being voted on by other contestants and the public. The final group consists of Leader Jungwon, and members Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-Ki.

My recommendations

Dark Blood EP

ENHYPEN’s music, music videos, and extra content follow the storyline of a group of vampire brothers and their experiences with love, loss, and immortality. ENHYPEN’s fifth mini album, Dark Blood, delves into their past lives as vampires. Each track on the album has a unique vibe, bringing together various genres and sounds to formulate a journey through the memory of a century-old vampire. My favorite tracks are Bills, a mellow R&B track, and Chaconne, a dark, romantic song with pop and rock influences.

Brought the Heat Back

Track 5 off their 2024 full-length album Romance: Untold, Brought the Heat Back is an upbeat song with electronic/dance vibes and pop-punk inspired sounds. It was immediately a fan favorite when the album preview came out, and the music video was praised as one of the group’s best. The entire album is great, but if you like music that’s a little experimental and makes you want to dance, Brought the Heat Back is the perfect track for you.

I NEED U – Spotify Singles

Originally released in 2015 by BTS, ENHYPEN covered the song at Spotify’s studio in Seoul and put their own unique twist on it. When the cover first came out, fans compared it to the likes of a Latin ballad. Although both versions of the song are amazing in their own ways, ENHYPEN’s cover is unlike any other K-Pop song I’ve heard before, and it has been one of my favorite songs since its release.

Memorabilia EP

One of the things that makes ENHYPEN stand out amongst the hundreds of current K-Pop acts is their dedication to their vampire concept and storyline. HYBE Labels created a Webtoon comic called Dark Moon: The Blood Altar where each member of the group has his own character and power, and readers follow the vampires’ pasts and their time at the fictional vampire school Decelis Academy.

Memorabilia was released after the completion of the first season of Dark Moon: The Blood Altar. The mini album includes 6 distinct but equally dazzling tracks, and the ENHYPEN members are able to show off more of their individual talent by performing in units for the first time.

It’s pretty obvious that I have a lot of love for this band, and I hope that I was able to convince some people to join me in enjoying their music through this article. K-Pop is a big world to dive into, but ENHYPEN is always sure to stand apart from other acts in the best way possible.
