We tried last week’s Crumbl Cookies flavors: Here’s the results

Crumbl Cookies is known for rotating between flavors–meaning, besides two standard cookies (chocolate chip and pink sugar), their menu changes every week.

Last Friday, The Warrior Word staff sampled the exclusive cookies of the week: chocolate cookies and cream, churro, key lime pie, and blueberry muffin.

Chocolate Cookies & Cream

A chocolate cookie filled with cookie chunks and cream pieces, then studded with creamy chips.

We began our taste test off to a great start: the chocolate cookies and cream cookie. Imagine an Oreo, crushed up and re-baked into a chocolate cookie. The cookie was rich (but not too rich!) and tasty. Delicious.

Overall, we ranked this cookie pretty high (well, except for Claire. “It was good, I guess. Just not good enough to be in the top,” she told me.)

Rating: 4 out of 5.

But all in all, we would love to see this flavor roll around another week.

Blueberry Muffin

A breakfast favorite–a buttery blueberry cookie topped with a crunchy blueberry muffin streusel.

On the count of three, we bit into our blueberry muffin cookie. And this one brought up mixed opinions. Samantha brought up how the cookie tasted so doughy, they were practically undercooked. I said this was a good quality, whereas Samantha disagreed.

The actual cookie itself was pretty mid. Nothing special. But the cookie was scattered with pieces of ripe blueberries, and biting into the blueberry led to a burst of flavor that moved the cookie up the ranks.

Running in the middle of the ranks, the blueberry muffin cookie was not entirely a standout.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Four stars, although Samantha gave this cookie three.

Churro

A crispy, tender cookie bursting with cinnamon flavor including a swirl of smooth cinnamon buttercream and a dusting of cinnamon sugar.

This cookie stirred up a lot of mixed opinions. Claire and Ms. Birdwell adored this cookie, whereas Samantha and I put this cookie at the bottom of our rankings.

“It’s too much cinnamon, and the cookie itself is too plain,” I said.

“I absolutely loved the icing,” Claire reported. “It reminded me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, which is my favorite cereal.” I personally thought the cookie was too similar to a cinnamon roll, but an undercooked cinnamon roll that was flattened into a cookie shape.

“No, it was so good. Stop hating on it,” Claire replied to watching me type the above paragraph. “I think this is the absolute best cookie we had. Makenzie and Sam are dead wrong.”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Three stars, although Claire and Ms. B argued it should be higher. Together, the average of our ratings got us a three.

Key Lime Pie

All the flavors of a cool key lime pie, including graham cracker crust, zesty lime filling, a dollop of whipped cream, graham cracker crumbs, and a fresh lime on top.

“Disgusting,” Claire said. But we all know she’s wrong. The key lime pie was the best cookie. The cool frosting that wasn’t too sweet, just sweet enough. The fresh lime slice on top brought an added pop of flavor. The cookie even mimicked the look of a miniature pie.

“While the churro cookie was good, it lacked the churro feel. However, the key lime pie was excellent and spot on,” Samantha said. Once again, Ms. B and Claire sided together against Samantha and I, who thought the key lime pie was at the top of the ranks.

“Usually, I love key lime pie; it’s my favorite type of pie. I’d rather have the pie than this cookie,” Claire said. “The original taste was fine, but the aftertaste was weird.”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Claire said the cookie got two stars; Samantha and I settled for four stars.

The consensus

Samantha’s ranking:

  1. Key lime pie
  2. Chocolate cookies & cream
  3. Blueberry muffin
  4. Churro

Samantha wanted to specify that none of the cookies were bad, just certain cookies were better.

My ranking:

  1. Chocolate cookies & cream
  2. Key lime pie
  3. Blueberry muffin
  4. Churro

I agree with Samantha–the churro wasn’t bad. Same with the blueberry muffin, which I actually really liked.

Claire’s ranking:

  1. Churro
  2. Blueberry muffin
  3. Chocolate cookies & cream
  4. Key lime pie

Claire wanted to clarify that the top three were all good cookies, but she felt the key lime lacked what the first three had.

All in all, our stomachs hurt at the end, but it was worth it.
