In the past few weeks, Downtown Canton has had the privilege of welcoming the crew of “Hawkeye,” a new Marvel Disney + series premiering in late 2021. Hawkeye (aka Clint Barton), a comic book legend and expert marksman, joined the Avengers in Marvel’s “The Avengers” (2012) and the character has been in the cinematic movies ever since.
Jeremy Renner picks up his bow once again to return as Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfield is cast as Kate Bishop- the original comic book Hawkeye. The two will reportedly team up together in the series and Kevin Fiege, Jonathan Igla, Trinh Tran, and Rhys Thomas will produce the show. The show will have six episodes and be a mini-series, meaning the show won’t have a second season. Filming began in December of 2020.

The Jones Building in Downtown Canton is one of the many set locations for the series. The cast and crew have been occupying the building for more than a month now, and it has brought positive attention to the marketplace.
But not all the attention the set is getting is positive. Residents that live near the set hear loud noises from their houses late at night, and some express that they are not able to sleep well because of it.
Lorri Brogdon is a resource teacher at Cherokee High School. She lives near the area where “Hawkeye” is being filmed.
I heard the cars one night and they were really loud and skidding while filming.

Fans from Canton will have a fun challenge of picking out which scenes they filmed in the historic building; the crew reportedly is planning to leave Canton early March, so swing by the Jones Building to check out the awesome set for yourself before it’s gone!
