The Cherokee Warriors crush the Roswell Hornets on Senior Night

On October 11, the Cherokee Warriors defeated Roswell 21-14 during the football team’s senior night. Although Roswell’s team was 3-1 before last Friday’s conference game, Cherokee dominated the field all game long.

Before the game started, Senior night commenced with seniors from cheer, band, and the football team walked down the field as each name was called out from the press box. The crowd cheered as their friends and loved ones got their moment to be appreciated for their time in the sport.

Football

The Cherokee Warriors played amazing during the game, making interceptions throughout and doing intricate plays. By the second quarter, Cherokee was up 21-0. Although Roswell scored 14 points by the end of the game, the Hornets could not pull off the win.

This game brings our overall to 5-2. This also brings our ranking in Georgia to number 82 and our win percentage to 71.4%.

The game was great! I think we played well and I always love the energy that the student section brings.

Cheer

As usual, our cheer team hyped up the crowd and our team. With their choreographed moves, they continue to be the reason everyone stays riled up.

There are many seniors graduating from the cheer team this year. This group of girls are Cierra Anderson, Chloe Bryant, Belle Fowler, Tiffanie Fraley, Sydni Lamb, Brittany Merrion, Cassidy Perdue, Sterling Russ, Sydnie Waderich, and Lexi Wentz.

The JV and freshman cheer teams also cheered at senior night. The two teams cheered on the right side of the field near the opposing team’s locker room.

Band of Warriors

The band’s performance at Senior Night went well. The band worked for hours during the week perfecting each part of their performance. The color guard and band worked together to make the half time show amazing, and made it look effortless as well.

Although we could not get the list of all the seniors in band, their were many that participated in their last home game performance that night. We are thankful that the senior band members worked hard throughout the years to give us flawless performances.

The band did really good during Senior Night. I felt like it was a good performance. It could always be better but I felt great about how we did.

The band had a competition on October 12 where they received a straight superior and placed fourth overall as they competed against 18 other bands. In the categories of Band, Color guard, Drum Major, and Percussion, they placed third in all of them.
