Thoughts On Freshman Warrior Football By Freshman Warriors: Interview Ava Baggerly.

Football is one of the main sports here at Cherokee, with all teams together there are around 100 players but we are going to focus on the Freshman Warriors. Most of the freshman Warriors have been players together since second grade and that builds a strong bond between all of them. I interviewed some of the players and they all gave great answers on how their team works together.

Interview One: Whats your name?

Hudson Grainger.

Question 2: What position do you play?

I play right tackle.

Question 3: Whats the most important part about having a good football team?

I would say what we do outside of practice.

Hudson then further explains to me how he enjoys playing football and having good relationships with other players is also key to having a good football team.

Interview Two: What’s your name?

My names Levi Brasfield.

Question Two: What position do you play?

I am the quarterback.

Question Three: What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses as quarterback?

My strengths as a quarterback are that I’m good at staying in the pocket and creating time and running when I have to and some of my weaknesses are that sometimes I take too long to get rid of the ball and don’t make the right decision.

A quarterback is a very important role on the offensive side in football, and it looks like Levi knows what he needs to work on and some of the things he’s really strong with.

Interview Three: What’s your name?

My name is Jaxon Monsour but everyone calls me Tater.

Question Two: What position do you play?

I play tight end.

Question Three: What do you do as a tight end?

As a tight end, I block people and I catch passes.

Tater then giggles while he goes on to say he likes getting to tackle people without getting in trouble.

We also had some of our freshman Warriors stand up in varsity games which is huge because it shows that you are ready and want to play at the next level. It really proves to the coaches that you want to play and possibly can play on varsity in years to come.

Interview four: What’s your name?

My name is Nate Whitaker.

Question Two: What position do you play?

I play free safety and wide receiver.

Question Three: What are practices like and how do you prepare for games?

Practices are physically tough, and you got to be tough in order to prepare your mind for the games.

Even though Nate thinks that practices are tough when he talks about football his face lights up and he seems to really have a passion for it and loves playing it.

Interview Five: Whats your name?

My name is Greysen Hodge.

Question Two: What position do you play?

My position is a receiver.

Question Three: What are you going to miss most about freshman season?

The locker room after Thursday morning practices.

It seems even though all the players can get on each other’s nerves during practice and games, they still all get along in the locker room and outside of school, and most of them are good friends.

After interviewing these freshman warriors, it seems to me that they all care about football even though sometimes it can be physically tough, and they can all be hard on each other. After 70 years of football being played on Tommy Baker field, it seems that we had a great freshman team to end off the last season here at Cherokee High School.
