There are so many different types of people at Cherokee High School, all with unique characteristics and exciting hobbies and sports. So many people whose stories you might never know. Learning about someone new can be a thrilling and inspiring process, and you can learn things about people.
Recently, I interviewed freshman Ava Baggerly, who had a lot to say about her life and her friends and is definitely someone you would want to be friends with.
Interviewing Ava
1: What sports or hobbies do you do?
I cheer, I play volleyball and I also hang out with my friends.
Ava is always involved in the football team, either cheering them on or dressing up at school for the game theme. Ava also stated she likes to ride around her neighborhood on her scooter or as she would call it my mobility scooter.
2: What’s your favorite thing to do on a weekend?
I like hanging out with my boyfriend, and I like watching movies, a lot.
I could tell she loved being around her boyfriend, who played for Cherokee Football, because of the big grin she had when she talked about him.
3: What is your dream job?
My dream job is a sports journalist and I want to work in the NFL for football because that’s the only sport I really know.
It’s interesting to see Ava having a clear career goal as a freshman; her passion for football and journaling really shows.
4: Where is somewhere you want to travel to one day?
I want to go to Italy or Bali for my senior trip, and I also want to visit Paris really bad.
Ava also spoke of how she wants to go to these places because it’s been her dream to go after her neighbors got her souvenirs and showed her pictures.
I really love visiting scenic places and would just love to go.
5: Who’s your favorite music artist?
I like Olivia Rodrigo, I also listen to Descendants and Zombies songs all the time, anything that is like Dove Cameron or Milo Maheim.
Ava seemed a little embarrassed at first when saying her favorite music was written for kids, but as she talked, she started to light up, discussing her favorite song and artists.
6: What’s your go to Starbucks order?
Ok, so I get a Strawberry Acai Refresher with light ice, no berries, and then normally I get the lemon bread, it’s so good!

She smiled when talking about her order, wishing she had a Starbucks right now.
7: What’s your favorite place to eat?
I like wing stop a lot but I like chipotle more.
She told me her order without forgetting anything, like she always has her order ready to go.
I get a bowl with rice, chicken, and queso cheese.
8: Would you rather Netflix or Disney+?
Disney definitely, I love anything Disney.
Follow-up question: Whats your favorite thing to watch?
I love to watch descendants and zombies!
She also stated she had recently gone on the Worlds Collide tour, which featured lots of the cast from both movies. The tour has proven to be magical for all ages and could be seen as Ava beamed with joy when she told me about her experience.
Getting to know Ava was an inspiring experience. Her passion for cheer and volleyball, her love for Disney movies, and her friendliness towards others show how unique and special she is. Ava has big goals of going to Italy and Paris and eventually wants to work as a sports journalist for the NFL. If she dreams it, she can accomplish it. Ava is definitely someone you would want to get to know.
