Everything to know about Halloween and the spooky season

Halloween has such a spooky and exciting history! There are many aspects of Halloween not many people know about, and it’s such a fun holiday to celebrate.

The history of Halloween

First things first, Halloween is celebrated on October 31st. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Soon, it was known as All Hallows Eve, and later, Halloween. It is celebrated in many different ways.

How trick-or-treating became a thing

It started when poor people would visit the homes of the wealthy, offering to pray for the homeowner’s dead loved ones in exchange for “soul cakes.” This was soon taken over by children, who asked for money or food. Over time, it became trick-or-treating, a fun and safe way to collect candy from others on a special day as a child.
