Behind the mask: Freshman: Mariah Sullen

Mariah Sullen, CHS Freshman, was nominated by Mr. Coury to be spotlighted as Warrior of the Week in our Behind the Mask series.

“Mariah is one of the best students I know. She gives her best at whatever is in front of her and genuinely cares about the people around her. She’s the kind of student every teacher loves to teach.”

About Mariah Sullen:

What’s something you want people to know about you?

“One thing I find interesting about myself is that I’m super sarcastic and extroverted. Most of the time, people don’t catch on to it, but it’s definitely one of the things I think stands out the most about me!”

What do you like most about Cherokee?

“My favorite thing about Cherokee is the teachers! So many of my teachers have put in effort to get to know their students and form a relationship with them! As a student, it makes me eager to learn and feel like teachers view us as more than just their job!”

What is your favorite subject?

“My favorite subject has always been math! This year, I’ve begun to enjoy literature too. I really enjoy the discussions we have and being able to hear other peoples’ opinions as well as expressing my own!”

What are you involved in at Cherokee and in the community?

“Currently, I’m not involved in extracurricular activities at school, but I hope to get more involved next year!”

What hobbies and interests do you have?

“Some hobbies that I have come from creativity. My most recent hobbies have been embroidery and crocheting. In addition to this, I love playing basketball, swimming, and baking!”

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received/given?

“The best piece of advice that I’ve ever received is to love and show kindness to others without constraints. I truly want everyone to feel like they matter despite what they have gone through. As a Christian, this has always been one of my main focuses everyday!”

We extend our best wishes for Mariah as she continues here at Cherokee, and know she will do amazing things!
