It’s Read Across America month and CCSD is joining in on the celebration of literature and the knowledge we gain from it. Although the holiday originally focused on Dr. Seuss, all books of all genres and lengths are celebrated specifically the official week (the first week of March) and also throughout the whole month.
The CHS media center and Mrs. McCrary’s Early Child Education class have been honoring the holiday by holding several activities and reading to elementary students.
March is also Women in History month, so the media center has combined the two celebrations… we have also had several mystery guest readers via Teams or through Canvas recordings where our students have read picture books to the elementary schools in our zone.
Mrs. Nechtaval, CHS librarian
The theme for the year focuses on mystery books, everything from classic Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express to the more modern One of Us is Lying from Karen M. McManus. The CHS media center carries many mystery and suspense books for all levels of reading.
I am very proud of our students who are willing to inspire younger students to read, since reading is the foundation of all learning.
