The Cherokee County School District hosted their 2020 Reflections Contest Awards ceremony virtually this year on Thursday evening.
The Reflections Contest is a national art contest held annually that begins with winners selected at the school level and progresses to county, state, and national awards. This program provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
It allows submissions in the areas of 2D and 3D visual arts, writing, music composition, dance, photography, film, and a special division dedicated to all arts.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
This year’s theme was “I’m special because…” and students could answer this statement however they best felt reflected the theme. The following students were selected from Cherokee High School to proceed to the county-level contest.
If a distinction is marked next to “Place” this means the student won at the county-level and will proceed to the state level.

Several students with photography submissions will proceed to the state level. Their submissions featured in the ceremony are below.
We are very proud of the work from our CHS family. State-level winners will be chosen around late-spring, and from then the winners progress to the national ring. Continue expressing yourself and showing the world why each person is special.
