Soccer season is back on at Cherokee! To kick off the season, the first varsity scrimmage on Jan 31 will be collecting cans for the CHS food pantry. This event is being held on Tommy Baker Field.
Our varsity Lady Warriors will be starting off the games at 5:45 pm against East Paulding High School led by Coach Syrios. The varsity boys follow soon afterwords at 7:45 pm led by Coach McCall.
At the gates, game attenders are highly encouraged to bring and donate cans to help replenish the CHS food pantry. They will also be taking toothpaste, toothbrushes, diapers, and baby wipes as well (and you would be adding to a great cause)!
Little people know about the CHS food pantry, but the food pantry was started by student leaders in Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy. Approximately 27 families with students at Cherokee High receive a backpack at the end of the week full of non-perishable food and other household products completely free of charge.
Without help, the pantry will soon run low which is why the donation at the varsity game is so important. The more things donated, the more we can help families around us in need.
Last year, Cherokee varisty girls beat East Paulding 2-1 and are training hard to get another win for the books. So come down and support your Cherokee soccer teams Jan 31 and do not forget to bring donations for free entry!
