All About Keeley Cantrell

To all future therapists here at Cherokee, look no further for an inspiration to follow your dreams. You can find this inspiration in our very own student, Keeley Cantrell. It is hard for many students to balance their school life and their personal lives, but Keeley manages to do both. Keeley makes fantastic grades and still manages to make time for her friends. Keeley is truly an inspiration to all students here at Cherokee.

QUESTION 1: What do you like to do outside of school?

Outside of school, I like to hang out with my friends and my boyfriend.

QUESTION 2: Who is your favorite singer/artist?

My favorite singer, well this isn’t really a singer, but I really like Hamilton and anything that Lin-Manuel Miranda makes is ten out of ten.

Like many, Keeley is a super fan of Hamilton! Hamilton’s songs were made by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and in Keeley’s words, his music is a “ten out of ten”.

QUESTION 3: What’s your favorite part about school?

My favorite part about school is when that bell rings at 3:30 and we get to go home.

QUESTION 4: What is your dream? What are your plans after high school?

My dream is to be a therapist and after high school I want to go to college and major in psychology and eventually work my way to being a therapist.

FOLLOW-UP QUESTION: How do you plan on reaching those dreams?

Working hard to keep my grades good and getting scholarships to help pay for college.

QUESTION 5: What are your interests, school-wise?

I really like taking pictures for school, like for football games and stuff like that.

FOLLOW-UP QUESTION: How are you able to do that in school, is there any clubs you could join?

Yeah, I’m in Journalism and my teacher helps to get me connections to take pictures and all kinds of stuff.

Christy Birdwell is the Journalism teacher here at Cherokee. Ms. Birdwell helps students write articles and take pictures for the Warrior Word.

QUESTION 6: So far, what is your favorite high-school memory?

My favorite high-school memory is when me and you (Emmy Blanton) went to take pictures at that game. It was just really fun, and I got to see all my friends and overall, it was just a fun experience.

QUESTION 7: What about outside of school, what’s your favorite memory?

My favorite memory outside of school is when me and my entire family went to Santa Maria Island, and we spread my grandparents’ ashes on the beach. It was just really meaningful to me.

QUESTION 8: What do you consider to be your biggest achievement?

My biggest achievement was in 8th grade I got all As and I was so proud of myself because I was always an AB student, and I finally accomplished what I had always wanted.

QUESTION 9: Who is your biggest influence? Why?

My biggest influence is my mom because she works really hard, and she tries her best to give us everything we want or need and it’s just really inspiring.

QUESTION 10: Do you have any teachers who have really impacted you? Who? Why?

Yes, the teacher who has really impacted me is my math teacher, Mr. Esquivel, he’s helpful and he makes math more fun. He teaches Geometry.

QUESTION 11: As a sophomore, what advice would you give to a freshman?

I would tell freshmen they really need to focus on this year because a lot of colleges really look at your freshman year, and if you think freshman year is hard, just wait until your sophomore year.

Accomplishing your goals and having fun may seem impossible, but Keeley Cantrell proves otherwise. Keeley is able to work hard and have fun. Like many, being a good influence on others comes from being influenced by others, and in Keeley’s case her mom and teachers have made her the person she is today. Keeley has big dreams to become a therapist and is working hard to get there, while still making time for her in and out of school interests. Keeley is a true representation of what all Cherokee warriors should be.
