The magic of Disney grows stronger by the minute, and the famous company is known for adding exciting new attractions that bring in new customers each year, but this thrilling ride has changed the game for Disney.
The Guardians of the Galaxy themed ride “Cosmic Rewind: A Journey Through Time and Space,” is located in Disney’s EPCOT and combines storytelling, advanced technology, and heart-pounding excitement to create a journey unlike any other.
A Marvel of Engineering
Cosmic Rewind is inspired by Marvel Studio’s The Guardian’s of the Galaxy franchise, working to capture the humorous, charismatic, and adventurous aspects of the movie series into a 3 minute ride through the galaxy, and it’s safe to say Disney did the perfect job.
Inside and out, the attraction takes visitors into the world of Xandar where they can visit the land. Before entering the ride, visitors are met with a Star Blaster ship on display outside the attraction, and after entering the ride, the queue transforms them into a beautiful galactic line experience.
While waiting, riders are given the full guardians experience with a fascinating pre-show! The ride allows visitors to follow a storyline about going on a mission to save the galaxy from Eson the Celestial, who chases the guardians in order to create a rift in time which would transport him to the Big Bang to “Erase an Error.”
Whether you’re invested in the storyline and the characters or are just here for a good time, the ride experience is spectacular! After finally making it through the queue, everyone is boarded into blue and green cars that resemble a rocket ship.
As Disney’s first-ever reverse-launch roller coaster, Cosmic Rewind features a ride system that allows vehicles to rotate 360 degrees. This design ensures riders are always facing the action, fully immersing them in the galactic experience. The coaster’s smooth tracks and precise movements create an exhilarating experience for a wide variety of guests.
A Stellar Soundtrack
One of the most special parts of The Guardians of the Galaxy storyline is music, and Cosmic Rewind perfectly captures Peter Quinn (AKA Star Lord)’s love for 80’s tunes with an amazing mixtape. Cosmic Rewind features 6 different classic hits that are randomized on each ride, adding a new layer of fun and surprise to the experience.

Not only is Cosmic Rewind a thrilling ride, but it also conserves the special cultural and technological theme of Epcot. Xandar displays an intergalactic world full of advanced technology, showing off detailed maps throughout the queue and showing a world full of imagination through technology. It displays a unique view on different cultures and emphasizes collaboration of different galaxies, showing the importance of unity and innovation.
