Some of the most exciting weeks at Cherokee are spirit weeks, especially when they’re used to spread awareness and bring our community together!

Throughout February, Cherokee’s FFA (Future Farmers of America) club organized a week of events to celebrate the organization’s impact on developing future leaders and promote agricultural education within the Cherokee community.
FFA week took place from February 2nd to February 14th, with a series of “dress up days” being assigned for each day of the week. Students were encouraged to coordinate their outfits to a specific theme each day to get in the FFA spirit!
Monday’s theme was hunters, Tuesday’s was tacky, Wednesday’s was farmers, Thursday’s was throwback, and Friday’s was FFA colors; wear blue and gold.
Every day after school, the FFA club also organized events for Cherokee students to participate in!

On Monday after school, there was a senior center event at 4:30 pm. Students met at the senior center on Univer Road and moved wheelbarrows full of mulch and cleaned up the garden.

On Tuesday after school, everyone made teacher appreciation treats and snacks. Each package shared a fun fact about corn; it’s grown in all 50 states!

FFA students also spent time reading in class to the GAA kids!
On Wednesday, there was an FFA meeting, followed by leadership games in class to encourage FFA leadership and participation.
On Thursday everyone delivered the teacher appreciation treats and practiced spreading kindness for “Kindness Thursday.”
Finally, to end the week, on Friday in the agriculture classes, guest speakers came to further encourage FFA activities and connect with the students.
FFA spreads even more awareness through their Instagram in which they share fun facts about agriculture and constantly encourage Cherokee students to further get involved.

The FFA fun doesn’t end after FFA week is over. You can go to the summer leadership camp from June 16-20 and Covington, Georgia and participate in other FFA led activities.
They are constantly working on making a difference such as through their current fundraiser for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The class with the highest amount of donations is given a reward day!
FFA is a huge part of the Cherokee community as it focuses on preparing students for careers in agriculture, but most importantly, striving to make a positive impact on communities.
