It’s finally that time of year…prom season has arrived! The most highly anticipated dance of the year finally took place last weekend on April 13 from 6:30-10:30 p.m, and it’s safe to say, it lived up to its expectations!
This year’s prom theme was “steampunk,” meant to capture the 19th century industrial aesthetic. The prom was held in a venue in Atlanta called “Guardian Works,” which definitely did a great job contributing to the steampunk theme.
The venue featured an indoor area with a few separate rooms for dancing and hanging out, and students also had the options to hang out under a beautifully-lit pavilion area or field outside.

The weather was beautiful all day on Saturday, making it the perfect day for prom festivities! Many students took pictures before prom at places like downtown Canton, Marietta Square, and different gardens around Cherokee County that allowed for gorgeous backdrops.
Many students got together with friends and grabbed dinner together before the dance, riding in limos and party buses, and at 6:30 sharp all of the fun began in Atlanta!
Students and teachers at prom dressed above par, and some even decided to stick to theme! Whether they decided to dress steampunk or go all out with a more personal style, the prom looks were definitely the highlight of the night.
There were also many fun activities provided at prom, such as a photo booth and character drawing, even people walking around on stilts! And of course, food and drinks were provided throughout the night.

Now, there can’t be prom without music! Everyone was showing off their best moves on the dance floor throughout the night, and it was truly the party. Students were giving song requests, and songs like “Don’t Stop The Party” by Pitbull, and “Wobble” by V.I.C got the crowd hyped!

On the way out, students were also allowed to grab a bag and fill it with Cherokee prom goodies such as a magnet, chapstick, and car air freshener as a thank-you for attending.
My favorite part of prom was seeing everyone dressed up and having a good time! It’s so much fun seeing everyone enjoy themselves and doing it in style!

Cherokee’s 2024 prom was absolutely a success, and it was so amazing to see everyone’s outfits. At the height of all the festivities, Tania Yadhira “YADI” Alvarado and Davion Jeremiah Lewis were declared to be the prom king and queen, and the celebration continued! The Warrior Word hopes that everyone had an amazing time at prom, and we can’t wait to see what the next prom season will bring!
