The sun rises on Class of 2024’s senior year

The Senior Sunrise is one of CHS’s long-standing traditions for the year’s graduating class, and this year proved yet another success.

Students awoke bright and early to get to Black Lot at 6:15 and were greeted with a coffee truck, Chick-fil-A biscuits, and donuts. There was also space to write letters to your future self and favorite teachers.

The student government seniors hosted the event. Senior Mariah Sullen painted a colorful banner to greet students and brought a life-size Connect-4. Other games, like Spikeball and Jenga, were also provided by student government reps Collin Ulm and Mollie Murchison.

The seniors filled Black Lot (and the coffee truck line) all clad in neon colors for tonight’s football game against Cartersville.

For some students, the nostalgia was running high as this event solidified “the beginning of the end” for the senior class.

“When you go to the senior sunset at the end of the year, remember this moment. And remember the journey you took along the way.”

– Mr. Justin Jones, AP Lit and creative writing teacher

“The sunrise was so pretty. It filled my heart with hope for the year.”

– Sophie Lyen

The class of 2024 truly showed up and showed out for a magical sunrise this morning. A wonderful senior year is on the horizon for these students!
