Kalyssa Perna is a sophomore at Cherokee High School and was nominated to be our Warrior of the Week for our Behind the Mask series by social studies teacher Ms. Wilkie.
Kalyssa is an awesome student who always brightens my day! She is the first to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs help. She can always be counted on to keep me on track when I tend to venture off on a tangent. She’s a joy to have in class and a wonderful student.

About: Kalyssa Perna
What is an interesting fact about you?
An interesting fact about me is that I have three dogs and a gecko.
What do you like most about Cherokee High School?
One thing I like about Cherokee High School is the painted tiles on the ceiling.
What are your future plans after high school?
After high school I hope to get a job as a photographer.

What is your favorite subject?
My favorite subject this year would probably be history because my teacher makes it really fun and understandable.
What are you involved in at CHS?
I am in concert band, and I am also in marching band.
What is the best piece of advice you have to give or were given?
The piece of advice I would like to share would be, “treat triumphs like a funeral and funerals like triumph.” It means that life is full of moments in which you can choose to smile or not smile. Let’s be real, life is…well it’s life. We don’t know what’s going to happen but you gotta be prepared for the worst and expect the best.
We know that Kalyssa will continue to do amazing things, and we would like to wish her the best of luck as she continues her career here at CHS!
