Welcome back Warriors! We are very excited to be back this year, especially during these unprecedented times. Some students may not be here, and there may be some new rules, but we are going to make the best of this year.
Warriors were welcomed to Cherokee High School this past week for the first time since the March closure of all Cherokee County schools. During these unprecedented times, there are new requirements in order to keep everyone safe while maintaining a successful learning environment.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, reopening schools for the 2020-21 school year came with some requirements for the safety of students, parents, and staff. The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) Reopening Plan presented new rules for schools to follow.
Some of these new rules include requiring face masks or face coverings for all employees and teachers. While students are not required to wear face masks, CCSD strongly encourages and recommends them.
Given the parameters from Superintendent Hightower, I believe that Cherokee County is doing the best for the safety of students and teachers.

Returning students may have also noticed that their lunch period looks a little different than last year. The study hall before or after lunch on your schedule is due to the effort to reduce crowds in lunch periods. There are also five minutes set aside in order to give custodians time to sanitize lunch tables in between lunches A and B.

While there are so many new changes to how this school year is conducted, there are also many reasons that students were excited to be back. Most students were excited to see their friends and favorite teachers again.

I was excited to see my friends again and also see some of my favorite teachers!
Abby Taylor, senior, on why she wanted to come back to school

Personally, I am very excited to be back this year. Since it is my senior year, I want to make this year the best that it can be, while also being aware of our current health situation. No matter what we are all in this together, so please be respectful to your peers and teachers. Have a great year Warriors!
