CHS Chorus preparing to ring in the holidays Friday

This Friday, December 13, CHS students will be performing their long-awaited holiday concert at 7 pm. Admission will be free. This concert is a delightful way to cap off the semester reminding us all that winter break is just one more week away.

According to CHS chorus teacher, Mr. Ellis, chorus students have been preparing for about seven weeks, and the auditorium is ready to wow in dazzling winter delight.

The songs that Chorus will be performing include “African Noel,” “Nanita Lullaby,” “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “Silent Night,” “Mele Kalikimaka” and more.

There are four different groups of singers from the CHS chorus who will be performing: Vespers, CHS’s beginning women’s group, Madrigals, advanced women, and Chamber singers, the advanced Mixed chorus group.  The hallways in Main are ringing with the sounds of rehearsal, and excitement is building.

“The Choruses are working hard and promise to deliver a beautiful, fun concert this Friday. Each chorus has at least one familiar sounding song and one different yet beautiful non-traditional tune.

The chorus is open to people with a lot of experience singing as well as people who are new to singing or who want to start singing.

Singing with the Chorus makes life better, so come join!” said Mr. Ellis, CHS chorus teacher.

Chorus is an action-packed, rigorous elective to have, and great fun for the artistic. Students are provided opportunities to travel to areas outside of the school to sing, though I would argue that the best opportunity we have is to sing at our own school.

I love to perform anytime, anywhere honestly. The class presents not only an excellent opportunity to grow as an artist, but to help grow skills in teamwork and presentation. For those who fear the stage, students find they do better with more exposure and working in a team as a class. Every voice counts.

We invite students, teachers and faculty, parents, and members of the community. We would love it if you could attend.

If you have any questions about joining chorus or questions regarding the concert, you can contact Mr. Ellis in the chorus room or contact by email at brad.ellis@cherokee.k12.ga.us. Hope to see you there.

Rock on CHS chorus!!
