CHS’s journalism classes visit UGA

UGA’s Grady College of Journalism hosted the Georgia Scholastic Press Association’s 2019 Fall Conference Thursday, September 19. Both the yearbook and newspaper journalism groups at CHS were able to attend workshops and learn techniques from renowned speakers to take back to the classroom.

The event featured content geared towards programs in design, leadership, multimedia, photojournalism and writing. “Content is geared toward broadcasts, creative/literary magazines, news magazines, newspapers, news websites and yearbooks,” (GSPA website). Ed Morales, editor with UGA’s Terry College of Business provided The Warrior Word with professional input and advice with a scheduled on-site critique.

Although the teams did not have the full day to experience events, it was a wonderful opportunity to learn from professionals and experience the vibrant energy of other student journalists.
