On Saturday, February 9th, the CHS Winter Guard hosted a pancake breakfast at the local Applebee’s off Riverstone Parkway from 8-10am. Students sold tickets for several weeks preceding the event in preparation for future events and competitions.
Upon walking in to the Applebee’s, a delightful hostess and Winter Guard member greeted guests at the door. The smell of pancakes and coffee filled the restaurant, and the main dining area was a bustle with conversations and guard members hurrying to and from the kitchen. The main dining area along two sides of the restaurant were full of cheerful supporters. Altogether, approximately 90 tickets were sold, each at $7 a ticket.
Guests were served a stack of pancakes, two sausage links, and coffee, juice and other drinks along with sharing the excitement and appreciation from the cheerful guard members. Kathryn Williams, 9th grade student, Winter Guard member, and fellow newspaper writer said, “All of the Winter Guard is here to serve and host! …But we’re not allowed to cook the food…that may be a good idea, ha!”
Senior, Ashonti Williams, said, “I’ve never worked at a job, so it’s a very different experience, but it’s a lot of fun!”
Mr. Worely, assistant band director, joined the Winter Guard in serving and mingling with supporters. The next competition is set for next week at River Ridge. Please help support our Warrior Winter Guard team!
